The Role

HuffPost is looking for an editor with managerial experience in both lifestyle service journalism and e-commerce to manage the operations of our HuffPost Shopping writers, straddling the line between editorial and revenue-generating affiliate strategy. You will report to the Head of Life.

Please Note: ** this position can be remote based within the United States, however the preference is to have an individual in the role who can work East Coast hours. **

The HuffPost Shopping team’s mission is to provide a service to our audience by carefully curating shopping stories, minimizing the work people need to do to find products or services to help them lead better lives. Our audience includes smart consumers who want to put their hard-earned money to good use (while having fun, too). We use loads of product research, expert sourcing, brand discovery and data analytics. Our goal is to turn HuffPost into a shopping destination people return to, because we’ve established trust with our audience through our devotion to quality, authenticity and diversity. We aim to combine spot-on product curation with an entertaining and informative voice and reliable recommendations so even if the products aren’t right for someone, they can click away feeling like their time was well-spent.

You Are



An experienced editor and manager in lifestyle journalism who also has experience in the e-commerce space. Someone who can envision and build content with high editorial standards, while also collaborating with our affiliate team and generating revenue.



You will



  • Develop a comprehensive e-commerce strategy that aligns with audience and revenue goals.

  • Assign and edit the work of Shopping writers (unique product roundups and SEO-friendly shopping guides and reviews), with a thoughtful eye on both evergreen and trending lifestyle topics. We cover home, food, parenting, style, beauty, wellness, fitness, health, relationships, pets, travel, work-life and more.

  • Package stories in smart and creative ways: sharp headline writing, SEO optimization, art and graphics selection, social media promotional language.

  • Create an editorial calendar and work with our sales and affiliate teams to generate partnership opportunities. Coordinate paid placement, special deals, big events ( Black Friday, holiday gift guides) and more.

  • Analyze data on a daily/weekly/monthly basis to hone an understanding of performance and revenue generation, identifying successes and building strategy around top-performing stories.

  • Assist the sales team with identifying brands for partnerships, selecting those with potential to convert and increase revenue.

  • Lead efforts to integrate e-commerce and affiliate best practices across the newsroom.

  • Partner with HuffPost Life’s editors to create Shopping content that aligns with our lifestyle service journalism.

  • Communicate with our tech team to troubleshoot tools in our CMS and optimize the way Shopping content is created and monetized.

You Have



  • 3+ years experience leading a team, as part of 5+ yrs overall editorial experience

  • Expertise in creating e-commerce content for digital publications

  • Experience developing strategy around e-commerce content and operations to maximize audience, conversions and revenue

  • Knowledge and interest in the following areas: food, style, beauty, wellness, fitness, health, work/life, travel, home, pets and parenting

  • Genuine love for the internet and online shopping

  • Familiarity with the HuffPost audience and voice
